Description:
Max is a child who gets really really mad sometimes and explodes, which is scary for everyone including him. He feels terrible about it afterwards. Luckily, Max discovers that there are many things he can do to manage his anger, and they are fun, too. So, he decides to give them a try, and guess what happens at the end? He feels like a super hero with super powers that are even stronger than his anger. He could never imagine this day would come, when he would be strong enough to manage his anger! He feels so proud of himself, and everyone around him does, too.
This book is for children who have difficulties with emotional regulation, frustration tolerance, delay of gratification and, as a result, have frequent emotional outbursts. It includes some scenarios that may make kids feel angry, what happens internally when they are angry, and a wide range of coping skills they can utilize to better manage this often difficult and uncomfortable feeling. While reading this book, children will learn about their own triggers, what happens in their bodies and minds when they are feeling angry, and what they can do to manage their anger.
The purpose of the book is to educate and empower children about their angry feelings. There is a comprehensive section in the beginning of the book for parents and other caregivers that will guide them in their approach to children who struggle with emotional regulation and have frequent angry outbursts. It also provides them with pointers for further discussion and practical strategies to turn the ideas in the book into practice in their daily lives. There are some activities at the end of the book to help children recognize and manage their anger.

What I like most about this book is that the message of empowerment over emotions really comes through. It’s enlightening, helpful, and engaging. It offers more than just a story about a boy, Max, when he gets mad. We can all relate to him. Highly recommend it!
